First Impression
Sometimes, we can get it right at the first glance of what kind of person he/she standing before us. But how many times we get it wrong? Guess, it would be as many times as we get it right. That is why I guess it is unfair to judge people based on your first impression.
I said this based on my personal experience. I had a friend, let’s say the name is X, who seems annoying and intimidating at times. Yet starting to get to know X better, I could see the beauty in X. The power of non-judgment is quite powerful. If I already condemned X is an annoying and intimidating person, I would not want to dig deeper of who X really is. Now, having slowly welcoming X with wide arms open, I could see there is a child in X. X is not annoying, X just wants to get attention from others. If you see X’s family background, you would see where X comes from. I could see X’s innocence ~~~ Yet I won’t deny that X is at times intimidating — I could see why X is like that. It’s just that X is stubborn, yet at the same time, X has doubts too despite X’s certainty on things. No one is all-knowing ~~~ we see things from our own specs. So, opinions for sure would be different depending upon how you look at things.
I’m really happy that I didn’t judge X from the start. I let myself accept and welcome X, and slowly penetrate myself into X to see the real X. It does help me understand X. I feel a soft spot in my heart for X now, despite X’s flaws. We all have flaws….. we all are imperfect in different aspects.
So, don’t buy into your first impression… it is deluding sometimes
